Overview
Pokhara sits at 820m on the shore of Phewa Lake with the Annapurna range rising almost eight thousand metres directly behind it — one of the shortest horizontal distances from lake to 8,000m summit anywhere on earth. On a clear morning the whole wall of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna III and IV and Lamjung Himal reflects in the water.
This three-day tour covers the essentials without rushing. Sarangkot at 1,592m for sunrise is the centrepiece — you drive up in darkness and watch the Annapurna range light from the summits down while the valley below stays in shadow and mist. It is one of the great Himalayan sunrises and requires no trekking at all.
The rest of the itinerary works around Phewa Lake — rowing out to the Tal Barahi temple on its island, walking or driving up to the World Peace Pagoda on the southern ridge, and visiting Davis Falls and the linked Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, where the Pardi Khola disappears underground. The International Mountain Museum gives good context on Himalayan climbing history if the weather closes in.
Pokhara is also Nepal's adventure capital. Paragliding from Sarangkot, with Himalayan thermals and lake landings, is among the best commercial flying sites in the world, and can be added to Day 2 or 3. Zip-lining, ultralight flights and mountain biking are all available.
Most people use Pokhara as a launch point for Annapurna treks. It is worth three days in its own right.

Best Time to Trek
The most reliable season. Clear skies, stable weather, firm trails and the sharpest mountain views of the year. Book early; this is peak season on every route.
The second-best window and the finest season for scenery below 4,000m, when rhododendron forests are in full bloom. Warmer nights and longer days, with some afternoon haze building through May.
Clear, quiet and cold. Excellent for lower routes such as Poon Hill, Mardi Himal and Kathmandu Valley. High passes may close under snow.
Wet and leech-prone on most routes, but this is the right season for the rain-shadow trails: Upper Mustang, Nar Phu and Upper Dolpo.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes for the main sights. Three days covers Sarangkot sunrise, Phewa Lake, the Peace Pagoda, the caves and falls, with time for one adventure activity. Add a fourth day if you want both paragliding and Begnas Lake.
October to April gives the clearest mornings. From May the pre-monsoon haze builds and views become inconsistent. During monsoon the sunrise may be entirely clouded — we will tell you honestly rather than sell you a 4am drive for nothing.
Yes. Tandem paragliding from Sarangkot runs from around 15 to 30 minutes and costs roughly USD 70–100 depending on flight length and season. We book with operators holding current certification and equipment inspection records only.
Three options — a 25-minute flight, a 6–7 hour tourist bus, or a private vehicle. We can arrange any of them. In poor weather the flight is the more reliable choice; the road is scenic but slow.
